Identifying the singular form, taking away anything but the word stem, adding t.

Re: singular to plural in Finnish
Yes, that is in nominative case. Other cases act differently. I tried to look for a simple chart but found only complex ones.Identifying the singular form, taking away anything but the word stem, adding t.

I mean, you still have to identify the stem, but endings differ.

See this ! :

To find the basic form of a Finnish word use the FINTWOL morphological analyzer of Finnish. For instance the basic form of "miehiä" is "mies" as you can see here :
http://www2.lingsoft.fi/cgi-bin/fintwol?word=miehi%E4
"miehiä" is the partitive plural of "mies" and it means "( some ) men"
"miehet" is the nominative plural of "mies" and it means "the men"
You can use the morphologiacal analyzer to find the basic form of all kinds of Finnish words ( verbs, adjectives, nouns etc )

In English a plural can be marked by -s or -ies, but Finnish includes a variety of grammatical rules.EP wrote:...I tried to look for a simple chart but found only complex ones.
Congratulations, you have now discovered one of those "stumbling blocks" which can make Finnish so difficult to learn!
The good news is that the grammatical rules are quite consistent, but there are a number of such rules to learn.

Alternatively, you can use Wiktionary to look up words, as it'll have the declensions of nouns/adjectives and conjugations of verbs
Here, for example, is the page on talo which, in addition to giving the declension, also gives a link to the noun type with declensions for bisyllabic Finnish nouns ending in -o/-ö/-u/-y
