Your favourite pizza restaurant in Tampere?
Ever since I moved to Tampere (from Oulu) a few years ago, I have yet to find a restaurant pizza I actually liked enough to go back to again.

Hello,
I am not sure which kind of pizza you mean!
Is it the kebab/pizza style or the real pizza? I am Italian and I can say that I ate the best pizza in Tampere in Como Restaurant, on Hämeenkatu. It´s the real Italian pizza (stone-oven baked) and ingredients come directly from Italy.
I am not sure which kind of pizza you mean!

Re: Your favourite pizza restaurant in Tampere?
It's the real pizza I'm after. I've had something called kebab rulla, which is kebab rolled in a pizza base, but I'm not really familiar with kebab/pizza style.Vallu wrote:Hello,

I'll give Como a try. It looks a bit classy so I'll have to remember to look a little more presentable and put something over the string vest
Thanks

It looks classy and in my opinion (5 cent opinion!) it is a bit over-priced, but I can pay for a real stone-oven baked pizza! If you try it, please let me know how you liked it!joulupukki wrote:Vallu wrote:Hello,

I have eaten once in Como, not pizza but more fancy meal, and it really was good, so perhaps I should try the pizza there someday too..
If you want to give the kebab-place style pizzas a try, you could test Kebab 14 on Sammonkatu, or Heval in Hervanta, Arkkitehdinkatu.
One of the best pizzas I've got in Tampere was in Dennis (Aleksanterinkatu), cold smoked salmon, sun dried tomatoes, onion, rucola and mozzarella..

The next time I'm Tampere I'll have to give Como a try. We've been looking for a 'real' pizza place for some time now as I sort of miss them.
We've gone to the point of making our own as we can't get into the kebab pizzas and though Koti Pizza is ok it's not that great.
I would like to know however who came up with the idea of blue cheese on pizza it sort of messes up the taste in my opinion but could just be me. Please note this is opinion!
Thanks for the restaurant info!

Ah, I see what you mean about the kebab style pizzas now -- Pizzas where they sell kebabs too. I count them as regular pizza as I'm not that much of a connoisseur. That's where I usually bought them in Oulu and most places were great.
Thanks for those other suggestions. I'll try them too

Try ordering from Hallila pizzeria.joulupukki wrote:Ah, I see what you mean about the kebab style pizzas now -- Pizzas where they sell kebabs too. I count them as regular pizza as I'm not that much of a connoisseur. That's where I usually bought them in Oulu and most places were great.

And steer well clear of Jalopeno in Hervanta. Have heard some... Interesting things of them and prices hint that there might be some corners cut in production.

Well, they do put Gorgonzola in some varieties in Italy too...CAD_Guy wrote:I would like to know however who came up with the idea of blue cheese on pizza it sort of messes up the taste in my opinion but could just be me. Please note this is opinion!
...but agreed, Aurajuusto and pineapple might be a trying experience. (For those of you who did not experience life in Finland in the 70's, the pineapple thing may sound strange - then it was very common to prepare pizza-like pies at home and many recipes included pineapple.. presumably the tradition stems from there. Not all Finns like pineapple on their pizza though, and this includes myself).
I'll need to check out Como too, the next time I go to Mansester. Thanks for the hint!
Re: Your favourite pizza restaurant in Tampere?
I called them "kebab style pizzas" because they are not really real pizzas! At least, not from an Italian point of view. They taste ok in my opinion also, but I wouldn´t call them pizzas!joulupukki wrote:Ah, I see what you mean about the kebab style pizzas now -- Pizzas where they sell kebabs too. I've tasted fantastic pizzas in Italy - and also utterly horrible ones. There's not such thing as a "real Italian pizza"... except in people's own minds and opinionsVallu wrote:I called them "kebab style pizzas" because they are not really real pizzas! Re: Your favourite pizza restaurant in Tampere?
I've heard this before as well though I haven't been to Italy yet. I've heard that Rome is one of the worst places for pizza but that's probably not 100% true either.sammy wrote:I've tasted fantastic pizzas in Italy - and also utterly horrible ones. I have to confess I like pineapple on a pizza, sometimes, it's very common in Australia and in general most Aussies like lots of toppings, though I'm more into basics 3-4 toppings. We had this awesome pizzeria not too far from where we were living that did wood fired Italian pizzas. I so miss those!
When we do make it to Italy I'm doing research to make sure we stay away from the bad pizzas!!
Re: Your favourite pizza restaurant in Tampere?
The best Italian pizza is known as Neapolitan pizza, of Naples, Italy. Delicious! Naples is the original home of Italian pizza.CAD_Guy wrote:...When we do make it to Italy I'm doing research to make sure we stay away from the bad pizzas!!

Re: Your favourite pizza restaurant in Tampere?
Well, if we are to believe Italians, only "real" pizza is one which has just the dough and some tomato on top. Something called "Margharita" or something.CAD_Guy wrote: I've heard this before as well though I haven't been to Italy yet. Which is crap.
3-4 is bit too little. I want my pineapple, ham, kebab, shrimps, jalapenos and something like Death Sauce in my pizza.I have to confess I like pineapple on a pizza, sometimes, it's very common in Australia and in general most Aussies like lots of toppings, though I'm more into basics 3-4 toppings. I personally do not care for "real" pizza.
I just want one which tastes good and has lots of stuff in it so it keeps me going for hours.
Re: Your favourite pizza restaurant in Tampere?
One can't argue with that, as Hank once wisely put it "sod authenticity, I want something I like". It's just a matter of taste & what you prefer.Tiwaz wrote:3-4 is bit too little. I want my pineapple, ham, kebab, shrimps, jalapenos and something like Death Sauce in my pizza.

But sometimes (in my own opinion) a pizza with just a few toppings is the tastiest choice; goes well with me KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stup... no I mean Sammy )
