Paying Taxes in Finland while business is in overseas?

Post by sweetpetite » Tue Sep 14, 2010 4:06 pm

I have been residing in finland for over 4 years and in 4 years I will receive my permanent residence permit. I am planning to put up a business overseas (The country where I was born) and my sister will be the one managing it for me. I was wondering if I have to pay taxes (based on the incomes that i received from my business) here in Finland even if my business is in overseas? Or not? Any tips?

It is either regular income or capital gains. ALL income must be declared. Ask more from www.tax.fi they should know...

Visa is for visiting, Residence Permit for residing.

It makes no difference whether you have permanent residency or not and no difference whether you are Finnish or not. And it makes no difference whether it is earned income or investment income. If Finland is your tax domicile then you pay taxes here on your global income. If you have to pay taxes in your home country also, you may be able to deduct some of that from Finnish taxes, depending on the bilateral agreements signed between that country and Finland.
