Well congratulations, one more fresh graduate into teh grind. You need to work 10 months to be eligible for unemployment benefits. And the Finnish language you should have done while you were in school. If you are non-EU you can get a 6 month continuation permit to search for work, but basically you should apply for a workers residence permit - once you find work that is.

What program did you graduate from?KIPKEMBOI KURGAT wrote:to get money? some money
Needless to ask if you've been looking for work. I assume that once you're thinking about benefits, you've exhausted all other possibilities.
And sorry that my post doesn't come to your help.

You give me so much to look forward to! ; )Pursuivant wrote:Well congratulations, one more fresh graduate into teh grind.
But I trust that it does make a difference what you've studied. Or I hope.

Or even more what working experience you have besides the degree.jazzori wrote:You give me so much to look forward to! ; )Pursuivant wrote:Well congratulations, one more fresh graduate into teh grind.

Here in Finland, I have done everything I can to blend-in with the Finns, I've changed my hair color, wore differnet clothes, got different

If you have managed to get some work experience "in your field" besides the work placement & thesis that helps. Usually the "kitchen door" approach of finding a job - making the placement & thesis may get the student that elusive job. Finding the "real job" if you have a job is much easier. Straight out of school with papers but not much experience - yeah, needs an upswing. Straight out of school, with papers, no Finnish... that requires a bit of a miracle.
Those Finnish courses they offer aren't there just for fun, and cramming them in while you are at school - you don't *need* to pass your courses if you have enough electives, but studying them is the key. I did something like 180 credit courses, got 160 stamped, and my degree was 120... I studied stuff I was interested in and then made the obligatories because I had to.

More than what you've studied it is more a question of language skills I would say.jazzori wrote:You give me so much to look forward to! ; )Pursuivant wrote:Well congratulations, one more fresh graduate into teh grind.

Fair enough.
I was also wondering if, in the social field, one (that does not speak Finnish) could have other work possibilities than the English playschools and nurseries. (supposing that s/he has qualifications in that field and also work experience)
I'm sorry to see that the OP dropped this thread because I am interested in the subject and also in his experiences.

Chances are very very small. You would need fluent Finnish for most jobs.

Was wondering about the options, not so much the chances..
