nasty paint mess on kids'winter coats, help!

Post by oompah18 » Fri Oct 22, 2010 10:12 pm

While braving the minus 10 temp this morning, my 2 littlest discovered that all the manholes in our lane have been freshly
painted with orange, luminous paint. So freshly painted ( a sign of approaching roadworks I suspect), that their haalarit, gloves, kuorma saappat & my goretex winter jacket all have nasty splodges on them  ! I am sure that a quick rinse in the machine will not be enough (if these road marks are to stand the weather!), but I really have no idea how to treat these sort of clothes, that are waterproof. I guess the paint used is not your ordinary pot from local k-rauta either :x . Anyone any suggestions how to clean this lot off......

I would carefully try a little white spirit or petrol. Try it on a bit of material that does not show first, for each garment (even if there is no paint on that bit of material). This way you can check if the liquid reacts badly with the material before you apply it to a visible place, just in case.
