Hi everyone,
I am lucky enough to be included the final 6 candidates for the position of Nuoriso- ja vapaa-ajan ohjaaja, the employers (Helsinki City) stressed that they were looking for applicants with an immigrant background in order to work with youths of an immigrant background. There were 114 applicants in total, so I feel very lucky to have got as far as I have. I have managed to get through the group interview, as well as the individual interview, this is a big surprise for me as my current level of Finnish is only Yki taso 3. On the day of interview there were 12 of us from varying backgrounds, native Finns, native Finns with one parent coming from abroad etc. In the Final 6 there are only 2 of us who are true immagrants, having been born and raised in another country, culture.
The add stipulated that they were hoping to fill 2-3 positions, so I figure I have around a 50% chance of landing a position. However, and that is a very big HOWEVER, The final selection stage is a Henkiökohtaiseen soveltuvuustesti at Suomen Psykologikeskus here in Helsinki on Monday. 2 things are worrying me! Firstly I feel that both I and the other immigrant candidate are at a distinct disadvantage due to language skills in comparison to the remaining 4 candidates who were born and raised in Finland. I called Suomen Psykologikeskus to express my concerns over this and they said they would take into consideration the fact that Im a non native Finn. I asked if I might use a Finnish-English dictionary during the tests which they said was ok but advised against it as the tests are timed and the use of a dictionary would slow me down.
My second concern is that I have never taken part in this kind of test before, neither in English or Finnish and feel completely in the dark over what to expect. We have been informed that the test will take 3 hours.
I guess what Im trying to say is that I feel completely ill at ease with the idea of going up against native speakers in the final 6 simply because they have the language advantage. What I f I dont understand instructions, questions, possible interview?
Any input advice greatly appreciated!
Tempus.

They try to weed out hidden pedos, killers and rapers at this point. And no point hiring someone that feels more at home with old people, is there?
edit. So they probably have chosen who they want, but they test few others too in case the shrinks find out something.

In my experience those test are mainly to confirm the opinion they already have. And sometimes it might reveal a hidden problem. So they probably have chosen who they want, but they test few others too in case the shrinks find out something.
It is not an exam where they pick the best.
Since they selected you, your language skills don't worry them.

I thought the psychic exams were "fill in the series" etc. with dots and circles, not so many word questions, unless they go with the P-test "kiristääkö vanne päätäsi"
