Hi everybody:
I have a question about the working permit, my situation is the following:
- I have a study permit that is valid until the end of March
- There is the opportunity to work in a small company, but I they want me to start only in the middle of february (full time)
so the question that I have is what is the procecure that I should follow to change my residence permit based on studies to work permit? what documentation should I bring to the embassy? do I need to present the usual bank statement that I have certain amount of euros in the bank? or would be enough with the salary that I will get?
please I really need help on this matter, because is really urgent
thanks to everybody in advance

Re: question about working permit
Did you successfully finish your studies? If so, you should have taken advantage of this: http://213.138.145.18/netcomm/content.a ... guage=EN#9
Otherwise, the job is supposed to give money to live on. The application instructions are here: http://213.138.145.18/netcomm/content.a ... ,2500,2507
The average processing time for a work permit: 65 days (http://213.138.145.18/netcomm/content.asp?article=2588)

I have not still finish my studies, because of the theses
About the processing time, here I think that I have a big problem, because my study permit ends at the end of March and if I present the documentation and my permit expires while waiting for the new permit, am I consider an illegal here? any help would be valuable
Re: question about working permit
When you have an application pending, they don't consider you illegal.because my study permit ends at the end of March and if I present the documentation and my permit expires while waiting for the new permit, am I consider an illegal here?
But there is a bigger problem.
Under your students permit you're only allowed to work 25 hours/week, not full time.
And after that, while you're waiting for your working permit, you're not allowed to work at all.
Violating this could mean a rejections of your permit application and deportation.
But if you're from the EU, the situation is different again.

Re: question about working permit
Well I am not an EU citizen, that is also a problem, so for getting it right it means that if I present the documentation for my potential employer I am not allowed to work until I get the new residence permit, but I can work untill my study permit is still available with the limiting number of hours? is that right?rinso wrote:When you have an application pending, they don't consider you illegal.because my study permit ends at the end of March and if I present the documentation and my permit expires while waiting for the new permit, am I consider an illegal here?

at least it is a relief that while I am waiting for my new permit I am not illegal at all
If anybody has more information about this matter it would be really helpful, by the way do you think that the inmigration office could speed up the procedure so for not waiting the 65 days?
Re: question about working permit
Do your thesis and the problem is solved?

Re: question about working permit
yes.I am not allowed to work until I get the new residence permit, but I can work untill my study permit is still available with the limiting number of hours? is that right?
not likely. The new batch of applications is coming soon (students for the autumn 2011 intake) and they get priority.by the way do you think that the inmigration office could speed up the procedure so for not waiting the 65 days?
So it might well be longer than 65 days.
BTW, applying doesn't mean getting.
Since you're not EU also the unemployment situation in the job field is taken into consideration.
If there is a high unemployment the can tell your boss to look for Finns or EU personnel.

Re: question about working permit
you are right, I did not consider the new students that are coming and they will get priority, also that unemployment stuff is really a problem, one little advantage maybe it would be that the boss needs an italian speaker, and as I am fluent in that language, maybe it would be a plusrinso wrote:yes.I am not allowed to work until I get the new residence permit, but I can work untill my study permit is still available with the limiting number of hours? is that right?not likely.
