Here’s a bit of listening fun:
Can you make out what’s going on?

Thanks for this exercise, Jukka. It took a few listenings, but I think I got it, plus a few laughs. One question. Toward the end, after a koeaika is suggested, our petollinen kandidaatti says, "kuulostaa xxxxxx-lta." For the life of me, I can't make out that word... And is he saying "sairastulo?"

Koeaika...? Kuulostaa kohtalokkaalta!

(kohtalokas = fateful, portentous)

A play on the words. ;) The interviewer says tervetuloa, the candidate responds with sairastuloa... as he can’t possibly support anything healthy or normal.

Aha! I kept thinking something like kuulostaa kohta uhh...mud? (joka olis loalta, ei lokkaalta)

Heh, now I get the first joke, too. Olkaa hyvä. Paha! Paha! Paha!

One final question: The last word of the clip...auttari? What does this mean?

Yeah, he “explains” that right after saying the above:

Olkaa hyvä.
Paha! Paha! Paha! Koska olen SAATANANPALVOJA!!! (“Because I am...”)

That’s actually alttari (“altar”), not auttari. He wants to get on with the job, now that he was accepted...
