How about having a go at your own?

I just heard this last week - so haven't tried yet - but certainly will.
ps - you have permission to save celebration till the weekend to let the brining work - actually it will push it to next week - but what's a week among 'Irishmen'

Pa
ddy and
one would presume? I'm surprised that our pick & shovel carrying brethren don't eat corned beef. Corned beef hash is a favourite in Liverpool.
I've seen it in a few random supermarkets here. You don't say where you are, but it's a fairly good bet that you'll find it in Stockmann, if not Behnfords claim to have it

Alternatively go to a Finnish restaurant and order poronkäristys, it's close enough, just tell them to leave the berries out.

I am in Helsinki, and will be moving here full-time this fall.....thanks for suggestions....is the c.b. Hash at Stockmans, or the actual corned beef that you can cook in slow-cooker w/ cabbage?

I'm planning to make my own one of these days. As soon as I find brisket in the shops... This may be of interest to anyone considering making their own,
linky linky.

I think there may be some confusion here as to the definition of corned beef ... I'm talking about
And there's no guarantee you'll find it in Stockmann. You should find it in Behnford's though, which is in the WTC Plaza, (Keskuskatu 7B) on the opposite side of Aleksanterinkatu from Stockmann.
I don't know what the chat about cabbage is, sounds vile.

Yeah, if you look at the link sent in next response, and see what real corned beef brisket, w/ cabbage and potato looks like, it may seem more appetizing....plus a little vinegar and salt on cabbage.....and Yum-O. All in what is your taste.....the Finns do things with cabbage here, that are questionable to me too....but when in Roman..............cook Internationally -

Well whatever the nationality might be - good corned beef is great stuff!

http://stickygooeycreamychewy.com/2009/ ... -of-bacon/
I went over to Stockmann's and got a piece of brisket (naudan rinta) - was a bit under 10€ a kilo - could have gotten without any fat but asked them to cut a piece with a bit.
I'll start the recipe and let know what happened.

but gee - don't anyone ever open a CAN and think one's going to find real corned beef inside. It will be 'processed meat' that's for sure - but you almost might as well stick with the original Spam.

I hope no one confuses that with un-canned product,
