Hi everyone
I'm Nick and I'm coming to Finland this summer (well in a few weeks) and would just like to know if there would be any chance of finding some kind of casual work (bar/cleaning. . . . .anything really
I'm backpacking and would like to spend some time in one area before moving on
I have heard of voluntary organisations where you can work for them and they will provide a bed and food (organic farms)
Does anyone have advice or suggestions on where to head?
Cheers
Backpacker coming to Finland. . . . . . :)

Most of the farms, nurseries etc use imported labour nowadays, mostly from Thailand.
I would say the chances of you finding any work are close to nil. There are thousands of school-kids looking for summer work and since they speak Finnish, English, Swedish etc, they obviously stand a better chance of finding work in a bar/kitchen than you do. Restaurant/bar work usually requires the Finnish Hygiene Pass anyway.
OTOH you might just be lucky if you are in the right place at the right time. Strawberry picking season is June/July. Blueberries start at the end of July. Sometimes we get job ads on here, but they're few and far between.
