Portuguese/Spanish/English speaker looking for a job KUOPIO
Portuguese/Spanish/English speaker looking for a job KUOPIO
Greetings.
My name's Hudson I'm a 23 years old Brazilian currently living in Puijonlaakso (Kuopio).
I'm married to a finnish citzen and currently waiting for my residence permit (submited a month ago).
I have a bachelor's degree in Internation Affairs, graduated in 2010 and I'm currently looking for work in Kuopio, hopefully in my area (International Relations) but I'm considering almost anyting else as I would like to work and have a bigger immersion into the finnish society and working life.
Portuguese is my mother tongue, I studied english for 8 years in a private english school in Rio de Janeiro and spanish for 2 years (had to stop before finishing the course). My english is fluent as for the spanish, I can easily understand and comunicate during daily situations but I have a hard time writing and understanding more dense (formal) spoken and written.
My finnish is pretty basic, I can understand some words and can make things out of people's conversations but I can't speak or write anything but the basic. And I plan on enrolling into the "integration Course" after the residence permit is judged.
I'll add the english version of my CV without my adress and phone (repairing), but the e-mail is in here in case you want to contact me.
Best Regards,
Hudson Guedes Ferreira.

Re: Portuguese/Spanish/English speaker looking for a job KUO
Your cv is not very well written, and probably will not get you a job. I mean this in the kindest way possible. It needs a lot of work.
Ask your Finnish partner if you can have a copy of her cv and get her to explain what everything says and the expected layout if you cannot read Finnish. If she is keen to help you get a job, have her help you (or maybe another friend) to put your resume into a more appropriate style for Finland.
Do some online research looking at as many sample resumes for your particular field as you can from Finland and also from Britain. Maybe some of her friends or family can email you a copy of their cv for you to have more examples of too. Otherwise use a resume writing service if you are still not confident.

You do know that you´re not going to be allowed to work until that residence permit goes through, right? Unfortunately it can take half a year sometimes to get...I'm married to a finnish citzen and currently waiting for my residence permit (submited a month ago).
I have a bachelor's degree in Internation Affairs, graduated in 2010 and I'm currently looking for work in Kuopio,

Re: Portuguese/Spanish/English speaker looking for a job KUO
Thanks for the advice Hee.
I made this CV in a website called Europass. It´s a website for finding job opportunities and that tries to estabilish a pattern for the EU CVs. But I'll take you advice in consideration and try to search for models of finnish CVs.
http://europass.cedefop.europa.eu/europ ... ?loc=en_GB
I talked to my wife about this and she said that my CV is indeed different than the ones she is used to see aroud here but at the same time she said she didn't have much luck finding good jobs with hers.
Interlukin, I'm aware of that. I don´t want to do anything against the law and that´s why I put the information about the residence permit here. But at the same time I thoght it could be a good opportunity to start getting known. And who knows if there´s someone out there that really needs anything I can offer and that can wait for that process to be over?
Besides, I posted here believing on the information I got in the police station, she said that the processing time would take about 1 month.
Alas I think I should listen to you and wait for the worst (half an year).
But I would still like to leave my info here, just in case someone interested likes it and contacts me... if you would allow.

I thought Finland has a program similar to the American "Green Card", wherein a person is permitted to work without being an actual resident. I', sure I read that somewhere.

Socialism has never managed to create anything beyond corpses, poverty and oppression.

Maybe it's "residency" but not "citizenship"? Hmmmm....Still looking.

Foreign employees who are non-EU citizens and equivalent persons need a residence permit for an employed person if they intend to work in Finland. An alien who has entered the country either with a visa or visa-free is not allowed to engage in remunerated employment in Finland but, rather, has to apply for a residence permit.
