Reamaining a Union member when not working.

Post by aguinness » Mon Oct 24, 2011 2:03 pm

Can anyone explain the pros and cons of remaining in a union (PAM) whilst no longer working, I am a full time student, have been a union member for about 11 years and have recieved päiväraha from them until recently. Should I continue to pay for membership or leave.

"A student studying for a career in a sector represented by PAM can join as a student member. A student member pays a membership fee only when there are wages to deduct it from."

Ok, thanks Upphew, I am not studying for a career which would be covered by PAM, I am kinda more wondering the benifits, if there are any to remaining a member and then transfering to another union in the futue as regards continuation of membership, rather than having a gap.

No I don't think so. If you're studying, and the study area has it is own clear union, you could of course what are their terms for student membership.
