Post by sanam_bl » Wed Dec 07, 2011 11:29 pm

Hi,

Can someone please post me the recipe for making jelly. My daughter loves it and I want make it for her.
It will be of great help if you could tell me the ingredients in English and Finnish so that I can look for them in the stores here.

Thanks,
Sanam

Well, it depends on what kind of jelly you are looking for. I suggest you Google for some recipes (either using jelly or the US version jello) and after you find out what you want to make, come back and ask what the ingredients would be in Finnish. If you are making something that is gelatine based, the word you are looking for is "liivate", which comes either as sheets ("liivatelehti") or as a coarse powder ("liivatejauhe"). Both are usually found where the spices and baking ingredients are. If you want vegan recipes then you would probably use agar-agar or similar (I have absolutely no experience using that).

If you want to make it the easy way, go to a Citymarket to their "American" isle, and pick up a packet or two of Jell-O (assuming that is what you are thinking of when you say jelly). The recipe is on the packet.
