Re: Hello, Haloo
Raspberry is grown very little, most of the pickers work with strawberries. The high season there is typically in July (subject to weather) lasts perhaps around three weeks (subject to weather). I googled one old news item claiming that the foreign pickers could make around 800-1000€ in that time; I trust you'd need to work pretty hard for that.

Re: Hello, Haloo
I thank You for your replies , raspberry is a tough bush and its certainly less sensitive then strawberries and is more usefull for wider range of products ,tablets, vitamins& minerals ,syrups ,juices, colours , etc...Serbia is among top producers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raspberry ,but or production is on hills which gives good quality but lacks mechanization so we have been stagnating for a while.Growing it on flat land doesnt give as good quality and is more prone to disease.
What im looking for is work ,but also an opportunity to really learn something new in growing. Red sorts is our production, including mine ,maybe bring and introduce black or yellow raspberry ,.
My wiliamete is starting at late May peaking in mid-June ,ending in late July -first week of July , meeker comes on later a week or week n a half or so (7-10 days) which eases picking at +38C and more (we start at 6h skip afternoon sun from 12h-15h and end in 20h),anyway i have replanted half of my 12 year old rasps in a north-south direction now, so it wont be 2-3 yrs before they bring large yields.
I would appreciate if You could point me to some link or direct contact for employer? Unfortunately i dont understand Finnish language.Strawberries i have seen ,they ripe before raspberry in my country so it would be good to combine it in one 3 month long stay.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Hello, Haloo
In the archipelago you might be more fruitful (
). I know on the island where I live there is a Latvian guy living & working on a farm all year round and he brought his wife and child over to live aswell. Because out here generally the kids do not want to join their dads in farming they want to move to the cities and follow a more modern life (or atleast they want to go to Uni and then return). There is an apple orchard here, but nearly all farming is Wheat, Rapeseed and Barley from what I can see. They are intelligient farmers here though and they will quickly diversify if there is a market for it and I dare say in the Summer months they do have fruit fields hidden away. The island of Houtskari is very varied in its farming, and has a very large fruit & veg facility along with many, many orchards and there is also a large dairy farming industry there too. There is a company called Isaksson's on Houtskari which is a big vegetable grower with a very high tech indoor growing facility.

Good luck in your endeavours.

Re: Hello, Haloo
Hello once again to all ,it has been a while.
I am going to need your help , since I inquire about prices for the raspberries in the EU countries ,so what is the situation in Finland for raw and processed rasps in the shops?
Recently our AgroUnion (one of many in the branch) signed a contract for delivery of 50.000 tonns, with an Austrian company "CWS Best Food " and their representative Michael Wally, with the price of 1,6e per kilogram or 1,21 for the producers like me
(after transportation costs). This was good news after disasterous last year ,and ive heard Poland farmers are losing their subsidies so we will have an equal competition now ,and due to harsh winter they suffered some damage done to their raspberry fields unlike us in the south.
Anyway anybody hear about this company, and what are the raspberry prices for EU countries?
Thanks in advance.
