Hi Rahul,
Tampere is a good location for your Restaurant idea given the fact there are many IT and other related technos moving to Tampere for work from India. Besides that some well-traveled Finns like to eat India curry, if they are made to suit their tongue. Targeting students with any small and cheap food joints near university locations should be an alternative as there are two major universities in Tampere with more International students. There are few Indian restaurants here..i guess most of them are owned by Nepalis as that is the case in Helsinki. The best thing is for your to visit Tampere and do a business survey or ask your friend to help you on that.
Good luck !

I think there will be a market. There are quite a few Indian/Nepali restaurants in Helsinki and they are well patronized. Suprisingly enough the clientelle is mostly Finnish and the food is not necessarily toned down. The Finns who eat Indian seem to want the food spicy.

I agree that a good Indian restaurant might work out well in Tampere, I´m just wondering how easy it will be for the OP to convince Migri of giving him/her a residence permit in the first place. OP: Do you have any prior connections to Finland? Do you have a proven record of running restaurants? Your problem is really going to find the funds and show experience so that Migri will grant you the permit. Plus, you need to study in great detail all the rules and regulations that are in place here, I´m sure these vary greatly between countries. Use Google and Google translate, and read through this forum (there are several threads by people looking to open up restaurants).I think there will be a market.
Armed with info about what to expect, and armed with sufficient funds and a proven track record, you can start to consider making the application to Migri.
(if you already have strong ties to Finland or have an EU passport, things will of course be much easier).

Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
