Revert to english or carry on the HARD way?

Well... to be honest, it doesn't sound like your wife really has your support. Anyway, kids learn fast. I would not drop it at this moment, as you are probably at a point where you will soon see major improvements. But it does need work. Just being a bilingual family means some extra work.

They simply find finnish childrens entertainment dull.... And i cant say as i blame them.

Do they need that much children's entertainment? Anyway, have you really looked? I would go with Finnish children's books. Or, for instance... show all kids movies with Finnish dubbing. Or, if you have access, get Disney Junior and/or Nickelodeon and show them with Finnish dubbing. That said... I would guess that soon you will find that it turns the other way, English is going to need the extra support.

Is the language that they learn in daycare enough? Well... I don't know, I haven't been in that situation, but I don't think daycare teachers in the end are able to talk that much to individual kids during the day, and I would guess the language that one gets from daycare alone is a bit lacking therefore. But... there are a lot of immigrant families where that is the situation for the kids, they are going to a Finnish daycare and don't have Finnish speaking parents at home, and they seem to be doing ok in school.

Personally, I would go with mom talking Finnish (well, I would have started with that from the start, but...). It is an advantage for your kids in the long run.

I would say Hang in There! I am English but my hubby is Finnish. Hubby & me communicate in English. All my kids were born here, and have been at home with me till starting preschool.
My eldest (now 9yrs) only spoke English 100% and was silent in any Finnish situation, till he started preschoolin the local, village school. Now he is totally Finnish as they come, but still speaks fluently & happily in English to me & his siblings
My 2nd (7yr old) has an English reading age of 11 & is happiest speaking English, but understands Finnish very well (his teacher says), he reads Finnish well but doen like to chat in it!
My 5 & 3 yr olds have had a lot more exposure to Finnish at a younger age than their elder brothers, and are both bilingual, speaking Finnish to my hubby & English to me!
So this is to say that your kidswill probably be bilingual in the end, as long as you keep to the one parent one language thing going! I know at least one non Finn mother who now has to speak Finnish to her kids using not her OWN native language, because she put them in Finnish daycare from 1 yearold , and used so much Finnish generally because she thought it would be better for her kids, seeing as she was in Finland. Now she regrets it. I do know a few other non fin parents who also have gone through the doubting phase, but we all agree that it is worth it in the long run, even though at the time we doubted our kids abilities to be bilingual.
