Can spouse apply when husbands permit is still in process

I have applied for my Work Permit (Category - Special Expert - OLE_TY2) from Hyvinkää, Finland on 06-March-2012.

I am currently staying legally in Finland at Hyvinkää on a Business Visa.

My family (Spouse and under aged children) are currently in India.

As my residence permit card takes more than 1.5 month to arrive in Finland:

Can my family apply for their work permits from the Finland Embassy at New Delhi, India?

Since my work permit is under process at Finland, what should they tell the Finland Embassy Authorities in New Delhi, India?

Can you please advise.

How long will this process take to complete?

Your spouse should wait for the outcome of your application and then proceed.

You're not a normal case, so they should contact the embassy and explain the situation.
Normally "special experts" apply together with their family and the applications are processed together.
Since you are doing it from two different places it will make the process more complicated.
I cannot predict what will happen, but normally the process is swift and easy.

I am kind of confused now ... When I called the immigration folks in FI to check my status - they said that your family can apply and tell the embassy folks i new delhi that husbands application is in process and give the reference number ...
I will call the new delhi embassy on monday and see what they have to say ...
