Residence Permit extension and travelling during that time

Post by chinmayp2001 » Fri May 25, 2012 8:42 pm

Hi,

I have a residence permit which will expire on 30th June, 2012. I have to go on a business trip to INdia for three weeks from 1st June to 26th June.

But my residence permit is to be extended and i am thinking of applying for the extension before leaving on my business trip(1st June). WIll there be any problem for me coming back to Finland on 26th June(4 days before my current residence permit expires).

As per my understanding, as I still have a valid resident permit when i will coming back to Finland i do not think there should be any problem at the immigration. But i dont know the exact rules for this. Can someone please help me with this.

Thanks,

Chinmay

Maybe somebody has direct experience. I would expect it to be OK. Where are you entering Schengen area? If in Helsinki, then actually the place to worry more would likely be Finnair check in desk in India. Even in the worst case, the passport control in Helsinki could always check with the local colleagues - but as I said I would think it works well.

I wouls not be traveling with Finnair. I will be taking turkish airways flight and would come in by the following route:

Mumbai-->IStanbul-->Stockholm-->Helsinki

And as you said, I still have a valid residence permit to come in, so i expect there should not be any issues.

Would be nice to get some confirmation though.

Thanks for the reply though.
