Baggage damage, repair shop?

Post by georgeSP » Sat Aug 04, 2012 10:57 am

Hi there!

I got my baggage damaged in my last trip: one wheel missing (completely ripped-off) and main handle in bad condition. I got a damage report from the airline company. Now I need to find a place where they can repair it or estimate the cost of it. Does anybody know a place in Helsinki centre area?

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

We have had the luggage damage in Finnair flight.
In our case, we brought the luggage to luggage section of Stockmann dept store on Mannerheimintie
for checking and possible repair.
They took care of the rest.
We picked up the luggage repaired later at a repair shop on Sammonkatu or near there.

When you go out the railways station, the "main" doors now that they have that huge zebra crossing finally there - and to theat underway passage on the right hand side that goes to "perunatori" behind the old student house where Zetor is . Anyways, there is/was a shoemaker that has a huge array of bags there in the window when you enter the passage.

Ah, sorry no, it was more "to the right" so not the crossing right across, but the one more towards the Sokos end. This entrance http://goo.gl/maps/WkkHO I don't remember which one out the tunnels this one pops up, but I have a vague memory its almost by its door. Of course its been aeons since I last was there, so it might have moved or quit as a lot of the "good old places" do. Other option is then to go around the shoemakers/mr minit types, some of them repair things like that, handles etc. Theres one shop down in Tunneli on the lefts side past Alepa - depending on how they've mangled that place up...

Thanks for your replies!

I finally went to a repairshop in Töölö:
ERIKOISLAUKKUKORJAAMO
Museonkatu 44
Phone: 444291
Tu-Fri from 10-12 and 13-17

They handle this kind of situations very often. They just need the baggage damage report from the airline company, and they forward the bill straight to them. Not need to pay for anything.. very easy!

Stockmann service point is only for Finnair customers.

Hope this info is useful for more people.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread... does anyone know of a place like this in Turku?

Thanks...
