Hi there,
Well, I was living in Finland for a while with my Finnish boyfriend and our babies and while we were there, I got to see and pay for baby clothes and was shocked at the price!
Even the smallest thing was so expensive.
People told me to try the Tarjoustalo, which for light trousers and some things, the prices were ok, for others it was still very expensive.
Now we are in my country and baby clothes are considerably cheaper here. It got me thinking if there is a need in Finland for better priced clothes that still have the quality?
What do you think? Are the baby and childrens clothes in Finland expensive for other people?
Thanks
Babies and childrens clothes - quality and cheap!!

With 4 kids & a relatively low family income (IMO
) , we have bought eveything, and I do mean everything, for us & kids from fleamarkets (kirppis) and charity shops. Also used huuto.net a lot. talvihaalari best value 2nd hand for sure,as well as winter boots and generally almost all kids clothes & toys. lego seems unbreakable 6 far cheaper 2nd hand too! Cant name any shop from where to buy new items for kids, just recommend the local Kirppis!

Of course new things for baby are very expensive (also the value is low considering you use many thngs for 1-2 weeks!) but there are many kirpputori where you find super low prices. You can try also to have a look to the website huuto.net.
If you live in Helsinki I suggest the lastenkirppis in Intiankatu.

Buying secondhand and whatnot when the child/children are small is easy in Finland, but what do you do when the child reaches the age where they are living life and their clothes don't last long enough (damage etc) to be sold on to another person?
Seriously.... I find almost NOTHING for my son who is about to turn 8 in secondhand stuff. Skiis and whatnot I can find, but clothing. He isn't your normal Fin, as in he spends almost all his time playing outside and not inside at the playstation (we don't own one... shock horror, the kid is deprived LOL). I have to buy very good quality outside clothing for the winter. It costs a lot of money. Even normal indoor clothing, you can rarely find from secondhand stores etc for a boy. My son's clothing couldn't be forwarded on to anyone else because he constantly causes holes and wears the stuff out so much, it's not possible another child would want to wear the stuff.
And then there comes a point when the child refuses to wear handmedowns.
I don't spend a fortune on indoor types of clothing, but for his outside clothing I do spend the money on good quality (doesn't mean most expensive!) clothing and it always lasts and stays in pretty good condition.
I always buy larger stuff in January when the sales are on. Then I can get the stuff cheaper. Sometimes I can get ICEPEAK Autumn jackets and whatnot for 60% or more less, which is a good quality brand. And when they have sales on Johnathon clothing, I try to buy, because their stuff is really good quality and it lasts even with my outside mad child. I try to shop off season for most stuff and that way I don't pay full price. My son doesn't grow alot fast, so it's ok to buy the next size up.
