Cleaning Jobs

Post by nikkhendrix » Fri Aug 20, 2004 9:04 am

Well, I am tired of being broke and unemployed, and I have decided that the dreaded 'cleaning job' option must be utillised! :D
I have been studying finnish for over a year, and can speak and understand pretty much OK. I have even done a 3 month 'työharjoitelu' in a finnish speaking enviroment.

Can someone please give info on agencies/firms which hire for cleaning jobs and are perhaps a little , 'understanding' and 'sympathetic' to non-'fluent' finnish speakers ?

I am going to be doing a finnish course 3 mornings a week for a couple hrs, so I guess I am looking for somewhere that does not mind hiring students or part time workers
Thanks for reading!
Nikk

Ok, so where you at? I'd have an agency right up your alley, but not if you live in Nuorgam...

And do you mind working nights? Bus & train cleaning?

Usually those big cleaning companies sucx. They always demand to b ur Finnish perfect(Toivomme hakijoilta sujuvaa suomen suullista ja kirjallista taitoa) although it's not necessary! I had 4 mths cleaning-experience from ENGEL, Tampere but when I moved 2 Helsinki they didn't give me any job as my Finnish isn't good. But after a little search, I found a great cleaning job for a English-speaking day-care school where I've been working for last 3 yrs without any prob & they pay me much more than those companies. And it's an evening job, so it doesn't interfere to my studies much. So, I'd recommend u 2 apply in those International day-care schools...

Dear Hank,
with due respect, please, look at their own ads and open jobs:

SUJUVAA SUOMEN KIELEN HALLINTA tarvitaan.

Fluency in Finnish required to clean. This one is from Lassila. They ask for a cleaner, you don't need to have previous experience, they will teach you on the job. And certainly they will. BUT

CLEANING requires fluency in Finnish.
