Noise..am I a pest?

4 year here. Lived in various VVO appt's without problem.
Just moved to a "family area" but it seems its mostly old biddys rather than families with kids.

Now my question. My neighbours have informed me they have started a petition against our family to hand into VVO.
The main issues are;
the noise of my children
the noise of my music

Am i being a pest? Or are they being intolerant?

I work form home. I don't own a TV. No CONSTANT noise is made. Im a graphic designer so I need peace too.
I like to work out with kettle bells a couple of times a day and i like some music to help fire me up. It is played to 'Speaking volume' I.E I can speak and be heard and understood by others at this noise level.
I also like to sing along to youtube songs with my kids...

I'm aware they can hear noise from my house. But I equally hear noise from their homes too.
JUst becuase you can hear something.. does that make it to loud??

After 8pm its silence in my house as its kids bedtime. But i think from 9am-8pm..Normal family noise should be fair game.

Am i being an £$€¤%&?
im getting msgs telling me to get back to my own country if I cant live by the rules.

So tell me str8. Am i being a pest or am i being bullied?

Being bullied. 0900-2000 making normal noises, they can make petitions all they want. You could maybe add some steam by having loud sex during nights. That is normal living noises too. You can also quote the rules back to them:

Working out while listening music or singing with kids won't get you evicted. If the kids yell constantly then they might have point.

Many old people don't give a !"#¤% if they make noise, but if you are a family or often young, heaven forbid.

I lived in one flat where there was a thick cement wall between our flats. The old hag next to me had her telly up so loud almost every single night till after 22:30, I could often hear word for word what shows were on. After putting several letters into her letterbox, asking her kindly to turn her television down, I was basically told oh well, she's old, she can't hear.

I eventually moved. In part because I couldn't take it anymore. Listening everyday after I got home from work her telly for hours on end almost every single day.

Now I live where it's actually rather quiet even though there are a trillion kids around. Kid noise doesn't bother me. The old hag below me who is spying on everyone, and who straight away rushes out of her flat to tell all the kids off the second they step into the piha..... that's another story LOL. She intentionally goes around the yard in summer trimming the bushes and looking into everyone's windows LOL. No one listens to her and I was warned not to care. So I don't LOL.

I think if you are living in an area full of golden oldies..... You are probably always going to have trouble. They can often gang up and make your life miserable. They have nothing else to do, right?

Perhaps you should try to find an area to live in which is more family friendly? Even if you weren't noisy as they claim, for your kids' benefits being around other kids would be so much nicer for them as they grow.

You by the sound of it (no pun intended) are not breaking any laws - but I'm not so sure about those sending the messages that you describe...

Welcome to "land of grumpy old farts". If they put you notices in the post, go put the notice on the bulletin board with a silly reply. Accusing the writer of "hearing things" and "imaginary friends" and "I am not letting gas through the mailslot, your cat is crazy on its own" in the classic style should get a few larfs out of people... Especially if the noise is daytime.

They just want to be undesirable warts in the rectum. When you kids are out then you should try some really loud sex.

There's a girl living in apartment above me. Quite a sweet girl and she owns the apartment. Usually doesn't spend time here as she's living with her bf. Now when her bf visits here and if things are spiced up then I can hear everything The good thing is it doesn't last for very long. I suspect the girl is not that demanding as she'll be a bit bitchy if she's not satisfied.

Told her to keep it down but what I got is an ear to ear shark grin and a naughty look. Next time I might go up and interrupt the ritual in the middle by knocking the door. Now, there is an old couple living on my right. When I asked them if they hear something strange now and then then they were quite confused and told me, "no we hear nothing. What are you talking about?"

This is just getting pure nasty now.
They have reported us to social services.
To quote "we are concerned about the father, he smokes. And they don't take the children out to play enough"
That's it.. that's the charge/concern.
Now I have to go "explain" myself in a meeting.

You have hit the nail on the head. the neighbour in question intially tried to befriend me on FB. Basicly she is on long term kela sick pay from her former amphetimine abuse.
in her words "I have panic-disorder,social-disorder,personally-disorder,traumas-stressreaction and other stupid things". *her english is great.

Her husband also likes his alcho and is a self proclaimed "This is MY country" kinda guy....

With the recent "kid killed/abused despite child protection services being notified about it" cases, it's no wonder that the authorities might be extra careful.
