Like most people here, my goal is to end up living permanently in Finland and like most people I am trying to figure out how to make that a possibility. I thought having some work experience in Finland might be valuable in perhaps landing a permanent job in Finland. I however have no idea how feasible of a task this is, especially seeing as I am not from nor currently living/studying in Finland. I am currently studying electrical engineering in university in the States. I would of course like to try and find an internship for the summer that is in my field of studies but more than anything I would just like some job...just something so that I have an excuse to return to Finland for the summer.
Of course, my level of Finnish is not enough to handle an engineering job solely in Finnish. I've studied it for about 2,5 years now so I can deal with every day situations and that's about it. My Swedish isn't really any better. Doubt it'd matter but besides English (mother tongue) I am also fluent in Spanish.
Any suggestions either pertaining to searching for a summer internship or the feasibility of finding permanent work in my degree would be much appreciated. Of course the one thing I realize is that I am of course behind all the Finns...I don't speak Finnish and I do not have my masters degree. I also am aware of the decreased pay when compared to the States. In the States when I graduate I should expect around 4500€/month and I've heard that I would probably be making around 2500€/month in Finland in my degree field with only a bachelors degree. I have talked to some friends studying at Aalto and they have sent me some information on trying to find internships also.
Thanks

Re: Engineering Internship In Finland
A search for "Electrical Engineer" yields the following results. All of them require English to be used in the workplace and in many cases English is as important, if not more so, as Finnish. If you don't try, you can be certain nothing will happen.
