Online offers and competitions
Online offers and competitions
Hello guys,
So i have startede my company in Finland but im struggeling to getting paying customers maybe i diddnt understand how people in Finland use there credit card online, hopefully you guys can help me out.
So this is what im doing:
#1 - Making a competition an exsample could be "Win 3000€ for your next holiday, every one get a free scratchcard upon signup"
#2 - I usually do a little survey 2 pages and then signup and then payment - chargeing 1€ for the competion + the scratchcard
Problem: alot of people does go and answer the survey and signup using their email. But when the payment comes they all fall away. Im charging the 1€ from creditcard.
Does you guys have some suggestions or know about someone els doing the same with succes?

Doesn't that fall under the class "lottery"?
I believe you need permission (if you are even allowed to apply for it
) to run such thing.

Lottery licenses
Arpajaislaki (1047/2001) and Valtioneuvoston asetus arpajaisista (1345/2001) came into force on 1.1.2002.
A lottery refers to an activity where one or more people are promised specified goods or similar on the basis of drawing lots or other form of chance in return for a payment or other direct or indirect settlement.
Lotteries may only be held with a permit issued by the authorities (lottery permit), unless otherwise stipulated in the Lotteries Act (for example small or mini lotteries).

Im looking for some serious answers. You put your creditcard details on every site when you purechase items. I have a lottery licens in Finland, where i sell lottery ticekts vs 1€ where you can win up to 3000 € same as casino-arpa.Pursuivant wrote:Which country you expect to find idiots who would put in their credit card details on some website to be stolen like that? Re: Online offers and competitions
Your serious answer is that people don´t trust you enough to give you their credit card details for something as vague as the possibility of maybe winning something at some point.
If I participated in an online competition and then was asked to give my credit card details at the end, I´d go do something else too.
Whether you´re a crook or not does not matter, why should people believe you are legit?

Maybe you do put on "every site", I don't. Especially for some dodgy "lottery".
This already shows you are a crook, this is not possible for a "business" in Finland.I have a lottery licens in Finland, where i sell lottery ticekts vs 1€ where you can win up to 3000 € same as casino-arpa.
You are targeting too savvy people.Im looking for a answer about what im doing wrong since customers in Finland wont purchase.

In fact P's answer is quite serious. Finns aren't happy to throw our CC numbers to suspicious sites.Sprinto wrote:Im looking for some serious answers. Then there _might_ be a slight legal problem:
"Section 10
Prohibition on giving credit
A lottery may not be run in such a way that players can participate on credit or against
security."

"Slight legal problem"?
I'd like to see that site, it might have some humor value.

Many browsers also give a warning if you want to sent cc information over a non secure connection or if the website has no valid security certificate.interleukin wrote:Your serious answer is that people don´t trust you enough to give you their credit card details for something as vague as the possibility of maybe winning something at some point.

Such a warning will scare away even the most trusting customer.
Re: Online offers and competitions
To be honest and in my opinion, why will I pay 1€ to you (to maybe win 3000€) when I can play 0.80 cents to Veikkaus own by the state, bigger pot, safe, and if I win, I win, if I loose the money goes to the education system, healthcare ... and so forth?? Have you ever tried a job?
Why people leave when is coming the payment time ... I don't know, what you are doing and what you promise them to do ... but I guess you don't inform people that they have to pay 1€ otherwise they will not even start filling in your 2 pages survey! And let me tell you one example: Netflix there was some 1 month free trial! I said at that time "OK let's check it out!" Start registering, putting all details there ... click Register button ... and than you are redirected to Credit Card details ... well there was no information so ever that they will ask the credit card ... so I just cancel the whole !"#¤%! If you give one month free trial, well it should be FREE, you don't need my credit card for that. After 1 month you stop my account and that's it! If I want to continue than you ask my credit card ... that can be done in 1 seconds! And yes I don't want to hear the !"#¤% like: "We care about our customer and we don't want to interrupt the service and cause inconveniences ... " !"#¤%!!! If it's free you don't need my credit card for it! And yes I will never come and use NETFLIX because of this! And this practice you find it worldwide ....
To avoid your issue, inform your customers that they pay 1 € to fill in that survey and you will get the survey and the money in the end just by the people whom wanted to fill that !"#¤% and pay you 1 €! You will not end up here crying that people fill in the survey but they don't pay! Well inform them first and you will have the issues sorted out!
Good luck with your scam! Sorry "lottery"!
P.S. No offense but this practice is insane!

Re: Online offers and competitions
P.S. 2: In Finland, many online services and online shops are charging users using Net Banking ... so basically people have to login to their bank and make the 1 € payment to your account, which is safe, you don't even see the customer credit card number not talking about security code. Another payment method is PayPal where people register their credit card with paypal and pay suing their system. I'm sure you know that this way the shops don't get the customer credit card but instead PayPal makes the payment and charges the customer's card ...
However if I want to buy a product from noname company x I will try to use online banking or paypal ... much safer!
Try implementing Finnish online banking to your site, it will bring some trust in the game and people will pay you the 1€ ...
