Higher national diploma looking for a job
Higher national diploma looking for a job
Hello everyone,
I'm new here I was googling some stuff about jobs in Finland.
Ill get my higher national diploma in July, I'm French and I speak English fluently is there a way to find jobs which require only English in computing network ?
Will I need to pass a certificate for English like Toefl ? How could I get chance to work in Finland without speak Finnish ?
Thanks in advance

Why Finland?Leez wrote:Hello everyone,

What exactly is your "higher national diploma" in "computing network"? A Masters degree in computer science?Leez wrote:Ill get my higher national diploma in July, I'm French and I speak English fluently is there a way to find jobs which require only English in computing network ?
Toefl or any other certificate for the English language are usually not required, the big question is whether your qualifications match exactly the requirements for one of the few jobs where speaking Finnish is not required.Leez wrote:Will I need to pass a certificate for English like Toefl ? Because honestly I always was attracted by Nordic countries and I went to Helsinki last summer and fell in love with the city and people.
Mmm master is Bac+5 in France that mean you studied 5years after high school diploma and my diploma which ill get in July (hopefully) is 2 years after the high school diploma.
Well I checked some sites where companies recruited and in general they recruit from a master level, but I arrived in this forum and wanted to know some of people opinions.
My goal since a long moment is to have the possibility to live and get a job in Nordic countries. For the Finnish I guess when ill be there ill learn it naturally but I wanted a job which will require English.

IT is one of the few places not requiring Finnish. But since Nokia is laying off many IT engineers, job prospects in this field are not good for somebody without experience.Leez wrote:is there a way to find jobs which require only English in computing network ?
Without Finnish very little chance. How could I get chance to work in Finland without speak Finnish ?
I hate to blow your bubble, but based on your post it is not.and I speak English fluently

There are a few jobs that want French speakers.

If you look at these jobs, they basically disprove your statement.mrjimsfc wrote:There are a few jobs that want French speakers.
Looking in detail at the 4 offers that are there at the moment:
- 1 is in Germany
- 1 is in Haiti
- 2 are for engineering positions at the construction site for the new nuclear power plant, stating "basic skills in German or French would be desirable" (the plant is being built by Areva and Siemens)
That makes zero positions in Finland where French would be necessary...

Also with the half meter of snow and 5 hours length of the day we have at the moment?Leez wrote:Because honestly I always was attracted by Nordic countries and I went to Helsinki last summer and fell in love with the city and people.
Finland is also affected by the impact of the economic mess created by the people in Southern Europe, so generally currently is not a good time for looking for a job.Leez wrote:Mmm master is Bac+5 in France that mean you studied 5years after high school diploma and my diploma which ill get in July (hopefully) is 2 years after the high school diploma.

Apart from that, trying to find a job in Finland without speaking Finnish is like trying to find a job in France without speaking French - pretty tough, unless you happen to have qualifications matching the requirements for one of the few jobs where speaking the local language is not required.
At your age, your first priority should not be to find a job, but to get a good education.
There are different kinds of Baccalauréat in France. If you have one that gives you the option to study in Finland, then try that. Or study in France, and then go for a semester or for your Master studies to FInland.
