Are there board game shops/societies... in Espoo/Helsinki?

Where to buy? Where can I find? How do I? Getting started.

They do have an English section on their board for announcements about events. There’s also a brief summary about them in English on their website.

You can browse the rest via Google Translate to get an idea of the activities they arrange and where they take place. See here and here as well.

For board games I would try these shops, both have shops in Helsinki:
- Lautapelit.fi, east of Tennispalatsi, opposite the Kamppi shopping mall.
- Fantasiapelit in the mall where Kinopalatsi is. Map.

Both shops also have gaming events and tables where you can play. There is also another small gaming shop where Fantasiapelit is, just a few doors west along the Kaisaniemenkatu (the main enterance to the mall). I don't remember it's name, or if it had any board games, but it also has a small gaming café (well, assuming they both are still there... haven't checked it out for awhile).

Hmm... while you are in the Kaisa area... there is apparently a game store in the inner yard of Kaisaniemenkatu 1. I have never visited them, so I have no idea what type of board games they have (but they do mention that they have board games on their home page), and they also sell used games. They will also order for you. Mygamestore.fi for the Helsinki store, and they have one in Tapiola, too.

Good luck with finding some club... my husband and I tried for long but didn't succeed. I see someone already suggested Fantasiapelit and Lautapelit as shops. They're great, they have great choice for buying boardgames.
About clubs, there's a students boardgame association (Alter Ego), if you want to try. We asked to the above shops if they had activities but they just have some meetings to play Magic or Warhammer.
By the way, the pub Kaisla (in Kaisaniemi) has some nice boardgames at disposal of customers... there are some nice things to play with, such as Settlers of Catan.

Yep. (Well, that's the address in Swedish. Vilhonkatu 4 in Finnish.) But the exact address shouldn't matter: it's in the Kaisaniemi metro station.

Suomen Lautapeliseura's board game events at the Leppävaara/Sello library sound good - I think I should go there too. Every Thursday at 16:00-20:00 on the second floor. It seems that every week's event gets its own thread on their forum so you can check that it isn't cancelled. They also mention that they sometimes move to the William K. bar nearby after the event and keep playing.
