Like some kind of knitting society meeting in a cafe? I have been wanting to learn for ages, I am looking at "easy" stuff like socks, no fancy stitch. I had a look online for tutorials but they don't make much sense
Looking in Helsinki

Any place where I could learn how to knit?

Try sending a PM to Cynde. I think she has recently started a group that meets at Finn Brit. But I'm not sure if it's daytime or evenings. Anyway, she can certainly knit (she taught my sons how to knit) so she might be able to give you some tips.

You can look up also the Martat group, they usually have many courses about this kind of things.

(By the way I wanna start as well and I've been suggested the book "Stitch n bitch").

I have a group that meets here and there almost once a week and I'm busy planning another possible permanent group and maybe even a third.
I'd love to teach you.

I'm interested too! My Mum taught me to knit, but I've never really gone much further than scarves. Please let me know about your meetups too, Cynde. Ta!

YIKES that is very weird!!!! Why won't Finland Forum accept the . name? I have typed it several times now and it won't go in! I'll spell it out since this seems to only put a . where the name should go. The name of the organization I'm referring to is Finland I , E , S , A, F put the letters all together, removing the commas and check it out on facebook. One more try= finland . Very strange!

I’d like to hear the background story to that as well. (Regarding the-organization-that-shall-not-be-named. You old-timers such as Pursuivant know what I’m talking about, don’t you.)

Hi there,
I'm new in Helsinki and would love to learn knitting. Is there still a knitting group?

Hi Niin,
Every Thursday from 7 pm to 9 pm at Fredrikinkatu 20 A Ring the buzzer for FinnBrits. If you are on Facebook you can find us at . Knitting Club. If you prefer Espoo there is a group at Sello Library, second floor in the Elina room Wednesdays from 6 pm to 8 pm. If you speak Swedish, there is one in Espoo twice a month near Alberga and if you want to meet mornings then contact me since those meet-ups are more spontaneus.

BTW Cynde.... I am shearing again next weekend, and... I found a carding stool in the barn! We really must try to organise a spinning session some time this winter!
