YKI test

Post by ajche0970 » Fri Feb 01, 2013 8:45 am

Hi Everybody,

I would like to ask some tips and advice about the YKI test.

I will be taking it in April and I am a little nervous because I didnt go to those "expensive"review courses.

Anyone willing to give some help ?

Best regards

hi! I took the YKI test 23th of January 2013 and still waiting for result. I didnt go to any finnish language courses and learning the language through self study. I must say that the speaking part and the listening part was challenging. and it was kinda weird talking to the microphone. and the time wasnt enough and you can hear the other examiners voices which was kinda annoying. In the speaking part there was a one topic about ''how do you get mad? 1 min to think and five more questions about the topic. all together there were 5 topics in the speaking part and it was the second. the first part was the listening comprehension, my advice is start to answer the question before it start to replay. some of the topics weren't replay twice completely. The reading comprehension and writing were okay. we had more time. in the writing part topics were for example; you need to write to your friend why you cant help her in some of her problems at home while she's living in abroad for work...

http://yle.fi/java/yki/index.nvl this helped me a lot... and I also borrowed a book from library called ''harjoitus tekee mestari 3. goodluck! :D

I went to the test as well, but not yet received the result, either.

As a note, I have heard from my teacher, this round of test in Jan, especially the section about speaking and listening, was more difficult than other rounds. Good luck, guys.

Can you chat with finns? Do you understand what finns talk about?
"Minun nimeni olla tatjaana" isnt enough.
Language test should be hard and i do hope it is hard. If language tests are what i want i probably wouldnt pass english test because i just cant talk english so other would understand.

Yeap! I´m in Helsinki and took the test at Helsingin Aikuisopisto but haven´t got the results yet!.
I think I did a great job in writing and reading. Listening was not that hard but in the speaking part I think I didn´t do it that well, basically because I do never talk in finnish and answered all the questions but not very fluently.
Let´s wait for the results!... Fingers crossed guys!!!... Let´s stay in touch!!!! :P

my teacher assessed the speaking section. she said he passed about 40% in her original score. According to her this rate is lower than usual unless the test center does some calibration.

Hi guys!

Are the test questions similar in format compared to sample exercises like in YKI treenit ?Harjoistus tekee mestarin books?, etc?

I have not enrolled in review courses so I have no idea what will happen during the test.

Greatly appreciate your tips.

Best of luck to your exam results.

I recommend you to go for some short course before the test. For example, Aukuisopisto organizes short course. I went there
for a weekend, and found it quite relevant. http://www.helsinginaikuisopisto.fi/

I did not try YLE system itself. But my teacher told me it is quite similar to the real test. Good luck!

No my teacher did not say anything about when they post the result. I did a quick search on this forum, it seems the result typically comes out in 6 weeks.

Yki tutkinto sanoi että testituloukset tulevat ensi viikolla, viikolla 11.
