Compulsory certificate to open a BBQ stand
Hello everyone,
I'm a student and I want to open a small BBQ stand in the square this summer. This stand just includes a tent, an oven and some other small stuffs. The problem I worry about is which certificate that I need to take before I open. Early, I thought that I just need a Hygiene Passport, but a woman told me that I need a kind of certificate like boss certificate (certificate for who open a food stand, restaurant, etc.) but I don't know the name exactly. I don't even know anything about that certificate. So which one I should take?
Thank you in advance.

No, *you* need the hygieniapassi, but your "tent" needs a health certificate from the building inspection to sell food - with running water and toilet facilities etc.
Any other stupid ideas while we're at it?

As I said that my tent is just a small tent and it just about 3x3 meters, so there won't any toilet. I just want it as small as possible. But I think you're right. Have you got any experience with this kind of business?Pursuivant wrote:No, *you* need the hygieniapassi, but your "tent" needs a health certificate from the building inspection to sell food - with running water and toilet facilities etc.

Indeed, all the tents in the market place have porto cabins next to them.Pursuivant wrote:but your "tent" needs a health certificate from the building inspection to sell food - with running water and toilet facilities etc.

You can do without the toilet, but you need a license from the city and an agreed place.
And yes, you and your tent will be checked by the health inspector.

Hum, it seems they have relented a bit, but they love their rules. http://www.hel.fi/static/ymk/lomakkeet/ ... mistus.pdf

...and they are really vigilent about the markets especially if raw fish or meat are involved and especially if there are vermin in the area like seagulls etc. There are very strict limits on how long you can keep raw food (fish and meat) on a market stall. They are also very strict about what you do with unsold produce (you cannot re-use, re-freeze or sell it off, it has to be thrown away). Anyway it is http://www.evira.fi/ that controls the raw fish and meat. The Helsinki Municipality will inspect your hygiene protocol. You don't have to have a toilet but you must have access to one (not just for your customers but also for your staff). Anyone working on your BBQ would have to have the hygiene pass too.
Have you already checked out how much it costs to rent a pitch and how long the waiting list is for a space on the market place?

Do you think that there are same regulations in every city in Finland? Your link is good but it's for Helsinki, and I don't know if it appropriate for Kokkola.Pursuivant wrote:Hum, it seems they have relented a bit, but they love their rules. http://www.hel.fi/static/ymk/lomakkeet/ ... mistus.pdf

Helsinki is extra anal on kiosks, but the evira rules are same all over, Kokkola should have a municipal office in charge of markets... https://www.kokkola.fi/yrittaminen_ja_e ... oripaikat/
