Finnish Citizenship, Help Required
Hi
I know that this has been discussed before, but I am getting confused after reading the Finnish Nationality law and the relevant posts. Kindly help me in this regard.
I am a non-EU citizen, I am single and following is my residence history in Finland
1 Jan 2009 - 31 Dec 2010 B Type Residence permit for Student (counted as 1 year)
1 Jan 2011 - 31 Dec 2011 A Type Residence permit for work (counted as 1 year)
1 Jan 2012 - 31 Dec 2013 A Type Residence Permit for work (counted as 2 years)
If I pass the Finnish language exam, can I apply for Finnish citizenship at the end of 31 Dec 2013, based on 4 year residence.
Thanks

You can apply, but you don't fulfill the requirements, so the application will be denied:trinkitrins wrote:Hi

Re: Finnish Citizenship, Help Required
But then it says
You have the required language skills and close ties with Finland
If you have the required language skills to apply for citizenship and you have close ties with Finland because you have legally lived in Finland for a long time or on the basis of other similar reasons, it is enough that your actual home and residence have been in Finland for the past four years without interruption
So if I acquire language skills, will 4 years be enough

And your close ties would be.. what?trinkitrins wrote:But then it says

Also B-permit is only counted as 50%: "If you had a temporary residence permit (B permit) before you obtained a continuous residence permit, half the time you lived in Finland with a temporary residence permit will be counted as residential time."

Since when exactly did they start giving out citizenship without the language requirements?

If I read the OPs posts correctly, hän plans to take the Finnish language tests.Since when exactly did they start giving out citizenship without the language requirements?
Side note: Nordics & former Finnish residents can get citizenship without language requirements.

Of course I meant former Finnish citizens, not residents. Sorry.
But yeah, that was just me being slightly off-topic, the OP almost certainly has to do a language test. But to do that, it seems hän has to wait one more year.

Hmm another sentence from you I don't understand.Im guessing nordics is like giving your cousins who dont like you and dont speak your language a spare key to the front door.
The nordics tend to have a mother tongue that is closely related to Swedish, so they get by on that. It would be pretty pointless to force eg. a Norwegian to do a language test to prove Swedish skills.
OP: Don't call me a troll, I am the total opposite.

Theres nothing mysterious about it.
Your cousins who arnt so much related to you as to the other cousins who dont like you as much as the other cousins.
