Woops, got a fine, rikesakko! Question about the process.
Hi all,
Yesterday, I got caught driving 79 in a 60 zone, about 150 meters before the speed limit actually turns 80 (old highway)! I realise it could be *true*, although as far as I remember, I should have been at about 65-67 or so (cruise control was on). That is okay, I paid the fine right-away!
Question here: The cop asked me to step into *their* car, and told me to sit on the bench opposite to where he was working. And closed the outer van door. Is that normal? Or is it normal that they just stop the driver and then handover the ticket? Felt a bit odd.
Thanks.
Kind regards.

Written warnings you can get while sitting in your car. Other fines mean a little sweating in penalty box. But remember that they have to do whole shift in it!network_engineer wrote:Hi all,

So, this is common practice. Experience?

So you ask if closing the van door in -25 on a windy highway is normal? Or did you expect having to stand waist-deep in snow without your clothes on?Question here: The cop asked me to step into *their* car, and told me to sit on the bench opposite to where he was working. And closed the outer van door. Is that normal?

Yes, it is normal.
I got a warning once and yes, they invited me to their car

I believe it's for the safety of the police officers that they do this.
Have you not seen on Youtube those American police officers standing next to cars giving fines or whatever and they get their arses swiped by some !"#¤% driver speeding past who just happens to sideswipe the poor cop? Or the cop manages to get out of the way sometimes. LOL.

Nah, not about closing the van door, just about being invited in.
Okay! Good to know! I was worried if it were my looks that got them to invite me to their car... darn, an unshaved mirror can scare even me in the morning!

Something about your brow and the flare of your nostrils seems a bit off. Can't quite put my finger on it beyond that.
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.

If they do that check on Länsiväylä, they can better rent a couple of busses, might have something to do that you never see them there.
