Finnish Language Course

Post by cherryrahtu » Tue Apr 02, 2013 9:40 am

I am still waiting for the language course being arranged by TE office, I found some other language courses available outside, I don't mind to pay. Do I have to ask permission from TE office for those courses (I think so) ? what is the best way to ask for such permission? by email or phone call? how long do I need to wait for the approval? Hope anyone has similar experience can give me some idea.

Thank you! :)

Whatever you do with TE keskus aka työkkäri, get it in writing. So email would be my first choice.

hei , I enrolled onto a course which I attend twice weekly in the municipality where I live (Vantaa) I payed 75euro I think and it's a very small class of 8 when everyone shows up ! I've been really happy with it 10 wks in , we work from the book Suomen Mestari 1 http://www.finnlectura.fi which I believe is a great book for learning Finnish language , if you're still waiting for your start date or undecided i really recommend this book as a way to get started on your own . Hope that is of some help to you :)

onnea !

You can do usually both if the times don't clash. If you should email your contact at the TE Office asking if it's OK before making a move. Are you on an integration program?

I am sorry, but why would you even tell the office?

This is just something you will be doing on your own. Privately. You aren't taking money or anything from the government. You are infact paying for it. So why would you even bother the TE office with this? Just do the courses you want while waiting. It'll just make things easier when you do finally get into a government course.

If you have a integration program, you have a contractual agreement to advise them of changes. If there is enough hours of studying you could even get more kela support, so why not?
