Hello,
apparently, postti does not want to ship an ipad due to the battery in it (that's what the guy told me at the counter). Fedex shows a rate of about 80 euros so does anybody know a different and cheaper way of getting a package shipped?
Those Fedex rates are a bit weird anyway because a reverse shipment is about half the price (so NLD - FIN).
Thanks

Well, everywhere else a battery that is attached to the computer/whatever is exempt
Apparently, Itella don't have some approval of something from somewhere.
Esim. yksittäinen kannettava tietokone, jossa on akku sisällä, vapautuu kaikilta merkinnöiltä.
Käytettävä Itellan palvelu on näissä tapauksissa vapaasti valittavissa. Jos akku ei ole laitteessa
kiinni, ovat yllä mainitut määräykset voimassa.
HUOM:
You can forget any courier as they are ripoffs from Finland - not for people but for "company pays " daddys money.

Thanks for the reply. Well i'll forget about sending the ipad then.
Disappointing service from Itella. I suppose they don't have much competition so they can't be bothered. One would think they can fill a truck one or more times a week to ship slow freight (and stuff they don't want in an airplane) to the rest of europe.

It has nothing to do with Itella not being bothered, or competition. Itella has plenty of competition.
Itella, while it's a company, still belongs to the government. Therefore must follow strict government rules. It's not a private company which can decide whatever it wants.

Had the same problem back in December, in my case with an iPhone, it's related to an ICAO rule that says that it's forbidden to transport lithium batteries by air, of course it's a silly rule to say the least, because every time we fly, we take our phones, and misc devices with us., so it's actually about to be faced out. I'm a pilot, so I tried to explain this to the lady at the counter when I was notified that my package full of Xmas presents for the folks back home was being returned, the answer was, no can do!! She even wanted to double charge for sending it again sans the offending item of course.
The thing here is that no one really pays attention to said rule, it's Itella the first mail handler, public or private that I bump into who actually enforces this rule. So Finland is Finland.
