Hi,
I have been trying to reach social services for months to arrange custody agreements. Our divorce will be official on July 5th. They have these calling times and just don't answer outside these. One hour twice a week, well it just is engaged non-stop for these two hours! Sure you can leave a message on the answering machine but they never call back either. Eventually I managed to get an email address online and things started to roll. Not before being told off that I am using emails instead of phoning though...
So the earliest time available is end of August... 5 months away! How on earth is that possible? Every body in Martiinlaakso area getting divorced at the same time??? We are moving out of our house in May, how are we supposed to do custody arrangements by the book? I mean it would obviously be unofficial agreements, child support and all. We are in agreement with my ex so it should be straight forward but what if situation changes before August and it turns nasty. You never know... No legal frame? Not to mention how is that supposed to work with Kela etc. children to register. I'm at loss obviously.
Anybody with similar experience? Dis you have to wait that long? So frustrating!
5 months waiting time to see Social Services?!?

Welcome to land of cheeseslicer.
Same folks who have to trudge through your divorce stuff have to handle plethora of other crap, they are overworked(or not, might just be lazy too. Or both overworked and lazy), underpaid and seriously pissed off.
But hey! At least Cyprus got their 200 mils and that philosopher his 0,7 million.

Hi Amandine.K
I'm sorry to hear about your experience, I had a divorce (wasn't married but together 10 years and 3 girls is married enough) last summer and social services were able to see us within 2 weeks. Your situation sounds crazy, I too had a problem with contact, but once I got through and found someone who understood my bad Finnish and native English then things went OK, including an translator for the things I didn't understand.... Maybe things are different here in Keski-Suomi Äänekoski area? but 5 months seems totally ridiculous!! I wish you the best of luck in finding a solution for your predicament.......

Do you live in Espoo???? In which case it sounds about normal. I called for a doctor's appointment for one of my children and was told.... some time in August (and that was over a month ago). When we tried to put my MIL on a waiting list for a care home in Espoo we were told there were already 300 people on the list in front of her.
Espoo is a dire place to live. Since Nokia stopped making profits and the municipality sold off their shares in E-on/Fortum and "invested" (
) the proceeds in some ultra-secure fund who-knows-where, the city seems to be on the verge of bankruptcy.
And, if I remember correctly, Espoo civil servants take - on average - 17 sick days per year
Don't hold your breath.
