Hi Forum,

I know nothing about vehicles nor fuel. Therefore, I would really appreciate if any one could help me out in this matter.

Hopefully soon I and a friend of mine will rent a car and he will drive about 3000 km.

So, My question is: What is the total cost (In Euros) of the diesel fuel that is needed for a 3000 km distance?

I drove about 1200km/90e winter, 1400km summer. But it depends a lot about car, driver, route, number of passengers/load. 3000km won't be city driving at least.

For petrol:
7l per 100km @ 1.70 € a litre

For diesel
6l per 100km @ 1.50 a litre

Fuel costs can vary by a few cents even in the same town, so be careful where you fill up! Don't know where your journey starts and ends but at least here prices for diesel range from €1.35 to €1.69. Not so bad for a tankful but over 3000km the difference could buy you a nice meal.
