Questions about employing someone?

Post by Samer2010 » Fri May 03, 2013 11:26 am

Hi Forum,

I have a few questions to ask, and I would appreciate your inputs:

Q1) What is the minimum wage that has to be given per hour? Is there any?

The job simply is ONLY 1-2 hours a day where the person has to do some phone calls and answers some phone calls too (Speaking in Finnish and Swedish).

The period for this job is maximum 50 hours, which means: 1-2 hours/day = 50/25 days.

Q2) Is there any legal issues regarding the minimum wage? Or it is just an agreement between me and the other person?

In other words, Assuming that I offered the person 5 Euros/Hour - Can s/he sues me that I paid less than the minimum wage?

Q3) Assuming that the person who I hired has another income and he didn't pay any taxes for the extra income that he was getting from me... Will I get in trouble for that person's mistake?

Q4) As I explained that this job is extremely trivial and it could be done anywhere and at anytime. I really have no terms nor conditions at all. So, Should there be an official written agreements (Contract) between me and that person about this little job?

Q5) Are there any commitments that I have to be aware of in this kind of employment? I mean, Of course I cannot offer health insurance nor any benefits apart from the paid amount - But just in case if the work has been extended to become: 70 or 100 hours instead of the 50 hours - Will I be tied to any commitments ?

If you are employing someone you have to deduct tax and KELA contributions (eg pension contributions) from their pay and remit these to the State. The tax deduction is your liability (not the employee's).

If this is a parttime, temporary contract then you must also pay holiday money at the end of the period of employment.

The employee can ask you for the employment terms and conditions in writing.
