Regarding driving classes

Post by swathkn » Sat Jul 13, 2013 1:39 pm

Hi,

My name is Swathi, I am a Indian living in Helsinki region. Me and my husband have Indian car and motor driving license when i tried exchanging it the Poliisi said we are living here for more than 2 years and we should take driving test.. So we would like to take some 6 to 10 individual classes to get confident to take the test... i would like to know how much is the price and the procedure for this...

Soooo if you guys know any driving instructors also would be great help....

Its quite expensive here, so hoping to find affordable courses :D

I think you need to take more than just 6-10 lessons if you've been a driver in India. I know an Indian who came here. She got her license in India because her Dad gave money to some driving tester or whatever they are. She never took a single lesson. Just had her license and was driving.

I think you need to start all over again. There's a written test and a driving test.

And you need to take a certain number of hours of theory lessons where you sit in a class and a certain number of hours of driving lessons. Then within 2 years you have to go back for another few driving lessons. No test, but they do check how your driving is, are you driving economically etc?

I think for the safety of driving here, especially in the winter it's important you start over again. Then you'll be given proper winter driving classes, night time driving etc. It's really worth the expensive cost.

I think all countries should do as Finland does.
