Electrician wanted

Post by larryk78 » Tue Oct 01, 2013 3:54 pm

What's the deal with electricians in Helsinki? I've been trying for weeks to get someone to finish-off my recently-installed IKEA kitchen.

1. The IKEA kitchen installer doesn't do electrics.

2. His mate never turned up for days and when he did he postponed the job because it was going to be more complicated than he thought (which meant that he was going to do some unnecessary work and overcharge me). I didn't trust this guy so I cancelled the booking.

3. I got another guy to come in and he did part of the work (because I was time-limited) and he confirmed that the guy from #2 was really going to overcharge me for unnecessary work, by doing it the way I originally expected. He was a good guy but didn't return my calls for "part 2".

4. I tried yet another guy but he's so busy and has been putting me off for a week and a half already.

So almost a month on, I still only have half the kitchen wired up and no clue where to get another electrician from. PLEASE HELP!

Any recommendations for trustworthy electricians, either individuals or big companies would be much appreciated.

seems that all Finnish electricians are the same. while building my summer cottage I changed 3 persons. the first just disappeared having done half the job. the over guys ( they were doing the interior job) could not proceed with the floors until all the cables were laid out. later I was informed that the electrician had a drinking bout which lasted for 2 weeks. so try the Estonian ones, but make sure that they are certified....
What do you want from me?????

My mother-in-law had the same problems, they worked a little, then "loma", then worked a little, then loma....
Then winter came, he said that he could not go in winter snow. Just a small repair job in kitchen, it took almost 1 year. :D

Not all electricians are the same. At least I have had no problems with them. There is a local guy I have used several times. Good work and a cheap price. A couple of times he has not been available and I have used others; one picked at random from the phone book, and 1 arranged by another workman who was here at the time. Both were fine. Not near Helsinki though so no help to the OP.

Hki area is much worse for those kind of tradesmen, since they don't suffer too badly from bad reputation.

If an electrician or plumber would do the same here in savonlinna, they'd be out of a job in weeks.(granny gossip network is fast).

Hi,
Use this company. http://sähköasennuspalvelu.fi/

He did our entire housing company last year and he is very reasonable. Speaks good English.

Cheers!
