Hey guys. I posted an item 3 weeks ago and it still hasn't gotten to it's destination in the US.
I still have the receipt of postage that I kept when posting the item, but as the item is maybe lost and I might have to refund the buyer. I want to know how to claim the amount back through posti.
Do I basically just take the receipt of postage back and tell them the item was lost and that I want compensation for the amount that I listed in the green 'customs declaration', or what do I have to do?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Actually don't worry about it, I realised I probably slit my own throat by not asking for a tracking number (:
Thankfully the item isn't worth too much.
Compensation from lost post?
Re: Compensation from lost post?
Is it possible to get a tracking number for a second class unregistered letter?
On one hand they say compensation can't be paid for unregistered letters but down in the amount of compensation list they have listed first and second class letters as well?

You will get a "voi voi".
If you have something valuable you send it registered (and insured).
And then they compensate you 20 euros per kilo

Exactly Upphew.
Always pay that bit extra for 'registered' mail or some other form of mail which can be tracked '14', '16', 'cash on delivery' etc. Well, I don't think those last ones apply to sending out of the country. But only in Finland.
Otherwise, tough luck....
I've seen where they do the damaged mail and where the mail goes which can't be delivered. It's all done very professionally. Under lock and key and cameras. And there are very few people involved in the process. As for lost mail. There are dumbarses in all work places who make mistakes. And sometimes it's not even Posti's fault, but the dumbarse mailer's fault.
