No longer possible just to get an S-bonus card?

Post by justaguy » Sat Oct 26, 2013 1:36 pm

Looking around on the S-kanava site it looks like these days you have to buy one of their actual bank/debit/credit cards?
I have an ancient S-Bonus card that is my wife's mother's but I would like my own, though it seems that it is not possible to get them any more?

I only see pictures of the ones with the microchip that indicate it's some sort of purchase card also.
I just want something that I can use to get the discounts at Torero and Coffee House etc.

Its free so no buying if you dont count paying "joining fee" what you had to pay with "just card" too.
They pay bonuses to s-account so you cant get old plain card anymore.

Hi!
There's a S-Etukortti cash card still available - with no payment options.

However, the S-Group pay bonunes only to an S-Pankki account, so you need that to get the bonus benfits.
https://www.s-kanava.fi/web/vk/en/s-etukortti-kateinen

To be able to get the S-Etukortti benefit card, you need to become a member in the co-operative and pay your participation share.
- - At HOK-Elanto you can pay your 35 euro participation share immediately or pay it little by little over no more
than two years using the Bonus you earn for the purpose.
Which cooperative where you become a member mainly depends on where you live.
Here's an instruction for membership to HOK-Elanto operating at the Helsinki region.

You can join choose to join any one of them or even all of them if you wanted. Usually people choose the one for the location where they live. Legally you must be able to join HOK-Elanto without getting an account at S-Bank because the combination of their rules [1] and the co-operatives act [2] does not allow for it. As mentioned to get the bonuses paid their rules require an account at S-bank. I am not sure if you could challenge this decision as favoring co-op members who are customers of S-bank over others. First I would just contact them directly to see what they have available...

I'd say it would not or at least should not be considered illegal favoring, if refusing the offered completely free bank account leads to negative consequences. It's not like I'd be free to choose all the details how the customer service operates with of the commercial or non-commercial entities I need to work with wither.

If you are a foreigner from outside the EU, you can't get their debit/credit cards without getting a foreigner's id from the police that that costs over 50 euros.

If you reside in a country permanently enough to want to get an S card, but still thinking that 50 euros for getting official id of that country... you might want to rethink what you're doing here.
