Car repair and inspection charges

Hi,
My car has some problem. When i open the hood it smells oil so i think there is some oil leaking. For this I made a call to a mechanic in Espoo and he said that he would charge 100 euros to see what and if there is any problem. Is this normal, shall I not waste my time calling other mechanics because they would say something like that that inspection would be 100 and God knows repair would be how much :/

100 for basic checks is steep but not excessive.

It depends a lot on car brand, model and which mechanic.

Most shops have their own preferred brands, so if you have a french car, i can give you a decent one near vantaa airport.

The mechanic didnt even ask me anything about the car. BTW, its mercedes A 140
