Electricity Charges

Post by vinayagar » Wed Dec 04, 2013 11:39 am

If I opt for making my own electricity contract while taking an apartment for rent; how much wouldbe the actual monthly expenditure for electricity for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids)? Appreciate some ideas on this with your own experiences.

Here's a calculator to estimate your usage:

http://www.kuopionenergia.fi/sahkokaupp ... hkolaskuri

Then you can use the rough 10 snt/kwh to get a rough idea (for more exact google for sähkön kilpailutus and check the transfer prices of your power company for the area of the apartment)

About 30-50 euros a month(*) is probably the likely range in an apartment which does not use electricity for heating. Unlikely you'll get much below the lower range with your family size. One can of course always use more.

(*) Included here the fixed not consumption based monthly fee (in Helsinki is about 7.5 €/month).
