Part-time job next to studying

Post by Mari Ska » Sun Dec 08, 2013 7:17 pm

Hello everyone,

I'm going to study in Helsinki for one semester from January to May 2014 and I'd like to know if it's possible for an exchange student to get a little part-time job next to studying since the costs of living are quite expensive in Finland. The reason why I ask is that I'm not fluent in Finnish and I was wondering if anyone of you might have an idea how to help me out =)
In Germany I am a tutor for children in German and English. I wondered whether it's possible to give some tutoring lessons in German for the Finnish pupils, but I guess since the schooling system in Finland is so well organized, no one would need a tutor in German. =)

Thanks for you answers (in advance) :D

There is part time jobs available but best use mol.fi website or go to a proper employment agency to prevent people paying cash eg as its illegal in Finland as sure as well in Germany.

A job will soon be posted here, its for a weekend personal assistant/cleaner to a former TV presenter from the Balkans, its either 3-5 hrs pwk live out or live in for room only. The lady lives in Ullanlinna, near Kamppi. She is older and has become deaf amongst other health issues although she works full time in an office. She has a partner half her age who studies art in UK and a teenage daughter who sometimes stays with her, thenthe house becomes a war zone and items fly through the air!!!!!

This employer pays cash, stops workers from paying own tax, pays only half the hours (she expects you to stay on all day after work providing company as she is lonely) provides food and drink and gets aggressive if you refuse. She is very eccentric will talk about your 'aura' and 'chakra' when meeting you first, and will pretend to be your best friend. Do not take the job, it will seem tempting at first but she will just abuse you. The last person working there had a burning scent candle chucked over her and a takeout coffee ripped from her hands in the street by this lady as well as being dismissed for asking to get paid into bank rather than having to wait for her to get the cash. They are taking legal action against her .

anyone else who reads this, if offered this job please contact me via pm
