Hi,
I am a student from India studying in Finland since approx. 1.5 years. I have an Indian Driving licence (both two and 4 wheeler) and would like to obtain a Finnish Driving license. Could anyone please let me know (in some detail) how can I get one?
Thanks,
AKI.

If you are from Of either convention country, its after 6 months before 18, so you better be quick with it.

GO fast and check with poliisi , you should be able to exchange the driving licence without any tests. there is time limit for this exchanging the DL ( its around 1.5 years, not sure ). if you are late, you need to take the driving test and theory exams , it will be expensive atleast 600 euros. so GO FAST and check your luck

and the other requirements:A driving license permit for exchanging a driving license must be applied for within two years of the date on which the driving licence holder becomes permanently resident in Finland, however before the driving license expires
Applicants for a driving license must bring:
2 photograps (if the applicant has handed in photos for a driving license since 1 January 2010, new photographs will not be necessary as a rule)
a doctor’s certificate for a driving license (dated no more than six months previously),
information showing that the applicant has been driving in Finland for a minimum of six months (for example, a freely worded account signed by two witnesses stating that the applicant has been driving in Finland for a minimum of six months)
a valid driving license issued by a country participating in the Convention
if the national driving license is not consistent with the model included in the Convention or it is in a language that is not understood at the police department, in addition to the driving license, an authorised translation of it into Finnish or Swedish is required.
Re: Driving License in Finland
Go as soon as possible and get it exchanged. I exchanged my SriLankan drivers licenses for a Finnish one (I had an American drivers license too). They kept both licenses and gave me a Finnish one. It is a LOT cheaper than having to go through the driving test.

Re: Driving License in Finland
Thank you all for the replies.
So, in general, anyone who has a driving licencse of a foreign country, should first check to see if his/her country's driving license can be exchanged with the finnish one from here: http://www.police.fi/poliisi/home.nsf/p ... FF002AF590
If your driving license can be exchanged, then head to this page for complete information and steps to get your license exchanged: http://www.police.fi/poliisi/home.nsf/p ... 37002DC64F
All the best.
Cheers.
