Hi all,
I have an job offer from a company in Helsinki and since I cannot move to Finland now they agreed in me working remotely from New Zealand.
My biggest concern is double tax.
What are the taxes implications of this scenario? Do I need to pay taxes in Finland while I'm not living there?
Can I open a bank account in Finland online while not living in the country?
Any other things I should be concerned about?
I'm trying to find these answers, but it's been difficult. Thanks in advance.

It seems he was paid by a Finnish university which at the time was likely considered a branch of the government? Normal rule is that you don't pay taxes of work you did abroad, if you're out of the country for at least six months during the year (but this does not apply to public employees).roger_roger wrote: Not exactly like your scenario, but there was a Chinese guy studying with us few years ago, he got job from the professor to do some research in China. So, he went to China and was receiving salary in his Finnish bank account with Finnish tax deducted at first. I don't know much after that, but he had to submit Finnish tax card to his employer at first, but of course things might have changed after that.

But he's not here - its like selling a service, not "employing" a person.

Often these schemes are structured so that one starts a sole proprietorship and then contracts/invoices the company. This usually makes handling taxes etc. more straightforward.

Do you need me to remind you some of the tax paradise countries? There are more than you can imagine.roger_roger wrote:Pentateu wrote:Can I open a bank account in Finland online while not living in the country?
No, I don't recall any country which has this scheme. May be some Nigerain Banks which keeps on sending me email asking me to come and claim my 15 Million Dollars that his desceased client transferred in my account.

To the OP... I bet it's much easier and more beneficial for you to start a company in NZ and sell your services to your "client" in Finland. Btw, how is uncle Kim doing?
