wanting to live in finland for a year and half

Post by kasey123 » Sat Mar 08, 2014 6:50 pm

okay, so my girlfriend has a year and half of college let, and we think its time to be together. she will be moving here, because i know how hard it will be for me to get a job there, probably in possible.

i was speaking to one of her friends who moved there a couple years ago , and he has been on this thing where they teach you finnish, give you a couple hours of work to do[no pay] but you get 900 euros a month to help you pay rent and all that. does anyone know what this is about? cause i would like to do it.

i am part of the EU by the way, so i guess i will get it a tiny wee bit easier. :]

if anyone can help me out here, i will be thankful. i don't wanna live there forever, only for a year and half, maybe even a year . anyone know what i can do while i am there to make money?

hi, sorry for that. i was more on about this place, that you gotta study for three years or something, and in them three years they learn you finnish, and give you part time work, and give you 900 euros a month to pay rent :]

i doubt i would ever be able to get a job, since i can't speak finnish, so that would be a waste of time writing about that.

So you're EU, have no education to mention, don't speak Finnish you're chaotic and don't read and answer questions. And on top of that you want a hand out from the Finnish government.

Well that is not going to happen. As a EU citizen you can come as a tourist and keep up your own trousers. No hand outs, no medical care, no reduced bus tickets, no registration, no personal identity number, no bank account, no ..., no ...
To be able to stay here you need a job or marry your girlfriend. And a job without Finnish is not likely going to happen.

If I understand correctly, your girlfriend is in college in Finland and has a year and a half left. You don't want to be apart so you will come to Finland to be with her but after she finishes school she plans to move to your country.

So your plan to be together is that you will take advantage of a scheme meant to assist permanent immigrants to integrate into Finnish society and collect your money. You admit you could never learn Finnish (and reading between the lines you don't really intend to try) but you're willing to occupy a space in a course that probably has a waiting list of real immigrants so that you can collect your free money because obviously the Finnish government is delighted to shell out thousands a year in money plus integration training to someone so he can be with his sweetheart.

Do I have it right?
