Man With Van?

Post by pikkukivi » Wed Mar 19, 2014 9:36 am

Hello!

I'm curious if there are any "man with van" type businesses in Helsinki (men with ven?) who might be able to help us...

We have a lot of plants. Like, a lot. Maybe a white van-full. We're moving back to Paris and when we moved to Helsinki, all of my plants died after being in a dark. cold shipping container for weeks. I'm curious if there is someone with a big van (business or private) who might be able to drive our plants down to Paris for us in exchange for payment.

Failing that, does anyone know if Hertz or something offers rental vans that you can drive one-way and drop off in another city or country? I hate to think of all my new plants dying again!

Thanks kindly!

A rough estimate is about mid-May...maybe a little earlier, maybe a little later.

Just throwing ideas...
How the plants from Europe come to Finland? Special lorries? Driving empty when leaving Finland? Willing to take bug free plants for a ride, for a price of course?

edit. few words that came to my mind: google kukkatukku

Houseplants etc for commercial wholesale come by truck with an insulated trailer that has a fridge unit. The "fridge" can actually maintain the temperature at any set value from around room temperature down to under - 20.

The removals / art transport firm I work for has two 18 tonne vehicles and one trailer in the fleet equipped like this, primarily for art transport but why not Houseplants too. I couldn't say if this would be a cost effective solution in your case but I can send you contact details if you like.

@zetorpilot:
Thanks, please do send the information!

I think it's hilarious that while we're crammed into economy on a plane, the plants may be traveling in air conditioned luxury with a chauffeur...ha!

Thanks so much!
