Well, this is my short story:
I bought some over-the-counter medicines in my home country and here in the airport the customs fined me a couple of hundred euros for that; because those medicines have codeine substances. I consider the fine as a punishment and paid it.
The bad part is that I heard this may make problems in my future residence/citizenship application.
Is this true?
So far I have two speeding tickets and now this customs fine. On the other hand, my job is (almost) stable and the income is not bad, and I do not have other negative items in my records. So is it possible that I face problems in my next residence application or my future citizenship process because of these fines?
Customs fine and residence application
Re: Customs fine and residence application
I don't think they will have any effect on your next application but you should drive carefully.
Re: Customs fine and residence application
All fines are "summed up" in terms of prison days while they consider your application. If you have too many you may have a problem. In your case the amount of the days that you have collected so far does not seem to reach the limit - but you should be more careful.
One more thing - parking tickets are not considered as a criminal offense and are not taken into consideration unless the are not duly paid.

What do you want from me?????

Theres a difference between "day(s-in-jail) fine", an " infraction - fine" and then a "mistake payment". The first one is when you do something "serious", and usually means you've been to court, or at least gotten involvement by the prosecutor for a set bargain. The second category is the lotto wins, usually for traffic fines but say for urinating in public, they're fixed "bargains" from the prosecutor. The third category is not so much police/crime/courts involvement fines, but stuff like parking tickets and such. Customs fines - hummm... rikesakko or virhemaksu?

Thanks for all good comments. Unfortunately, my Finnish is not that good that I can understand if this penalty is rikesakko or virhemaksu. It is a penalty (rangaistusvaatimusilmoitus) and no esitutkintapöytäkirjaa report is made. The number of day fines is 10.
So is it serious for the applications?
