I've been looking at ADSL plans in Finland. DNA and Sonera seem to have switched to these annoying 2 year contracts. They offer some pretty okay savings for 6-12kk but still I don't want anything longer term than 12kk.
Unfortunately the catch with both Sonera and DNA's plans is that they are for 24kk.
Does anyone know of any other providers that provide shorter contracts? Say, 12kk?
Actually, I am looking mostly for something that offers a 'Symmetric' connection too. Meaning that the Download/Upload rate are basically equal. None of this 10 Megabytes Download / 1 Megabyte upload etc.
I know there are some smaller companies out there that offer Symmetric connections.
Could anyone please recommend me something?
Price isn't so much an issue but it would be nice if it didn't cost me over €50 a month unless it was insanely fast.
Non-Mainstream ADSL Internet?
Re: Non-Mainstream ADSL Internet?
The absolute max for ADSL (ADSL2+) is 24 Mbit/s down and 3 Mbit/s up.

Re: Non-Mainstream ADSL Internet?
It is of course not common for companies to offer symmetric connections over Asymmetric DSL (ADSL).

Good one!
People really should find out what acronyms are coming from!

Re: Non-Mainstream ADSL Internet?
If one talks about adsl one should understand the underlying technical props behind it. Adsl works over telephone mains thus rendering the mains (and switch substation) owner the basic supplier of the service. Usually the lines owner is obliged by law to allow second party providers to allow to use its mains for the similar service if the mains owner in the exclusive or dominant position on the market. Thus the number of adsl providers in a given country is limited. In some cases the service may be provided thought a direct connection through fiber cable extended to ones building , but this not an adsl service really. So , basically, one is limited by technical possibilities at ones location and the market structure in the country. In Finland (adsl wise) one has to choose between elisa (including saunalahti) , sonera and DNA.....
Of course one can try sat connection but it is expensive, unreliable and asymmetric.
