About my RP (unemployed)

Post by violashii » Mon Sep 01, 2014 4:01 pm

Hi, I have been unemployed about 4 months now and still living in finland with my saving.
My finnish RP will expire on 2017. I'm just wondering if i don't have any job yet but still stay in finland like this (who knows when i will be able to get a job)
Let's say 3-4 more months. Will my finnish RP be canceled sooner? :(

Actually, if you have been living with him the whole time you're here, you could do it without getting married.
Yes I already applied for my permit but still waiting and swedish immigrant is such a pain. no case officer assign my case yet.
So i'm still waiting here and wanna know how long i can stay in legal way
(Waiting time for swedish RP is 11 months) That's why i wanna stay here and get some job while waiting.

Well, duh! You should have married in Finland, and even then with 2 yeara together you would have been "familjemedlem av EU medborgare" instead of some "svenska sambo". Didn't EU ring a bell - getting a "sambo" is like 2 years. EU is "jag är här nu" - it doesn't matter he is Swedish - if he moves from Finland he is EU.

Termination of an employment contract

If your employment contract has terminated, you must leave Finland when your right to reside expires or earlier.

If the Finnish Immigration Service has granted you a residence permit and the employment is terminated before the permit expires, the employer or employee must inform the Finnish Immigration Service of the termination of employment with a written notification in Finnish, Swedish, or English. The form of the notification is informal, but it must include the date and your signature.

If your residence permit is valid, you may also change jobs within the limits set by your residence permit.

it notes that you or the employer needs to contact migri on termination of contract regardless of permit expiration.

I don't recall ever hearing that applying for KELA benefits (including unemployment benefits) that one otherwise is entitled to would have a negative effect on residence permit (City social services toimeentulotuki might be different)

Yes, that is toimeentulotuki (and even there enforcing the principle has not been systematic at all)

Thank you everyone so much for all info.
For swedish immigration they consider marriage case the same as the one who haven't get married yet, just need enough prove of the relationship.
At first we were talking about it also because we heard that in Finland it does seem like help to speed thing up a little bit.
But for sweden , No. it doesn't matter if you are married or not. the waiting time for them both is the same.
So We didn't get married yet and I don't want to get married because I have to for the permit.
I want to get married when we both have everything right. That's why i'm still remains in finland and support myself with my savings.
